Why Membership?

by Kathryn Baker, administration coordinator

You’ve heard the phrase “membership has its privileges” associated with a large credit card company, but I’d like to explain why membership in the History Center is worth considering.

Obviously members get free admission to the museum.  In addition, you receive free admission to the Chief Richardville House for Miami Indian Heritage Days and free admission to the Festival of Gingerbread.

Let’s say a typical family of four (two adults and two students) visits the museum once, Chief Richardville House once, and returns to the museum for Festival of Gingerbread once.  The admissions would total $56 – already $6 more than a family membership!

Free admission is just the beginning!  Your History Center membership card is valuable.  With it, you receive discounts in our museum gift shop as well as free or reduced admissions and other discounts at over 200 museums and historic sites across the country using our Time Travelers affiliation.

That’s still not all!  Membership also includes a subscription to our semi-annual historic magazine Old Fort News, a quarterly newsletter the Bulletin to keep you informed about happenings at the History Center, postcard notices of upcoming events, and invitations to the Annual Meeting and Festival of Gingerbread Preview Gala.
